With an average medication regimen lasting 10-14 days, the ovaries are stimulated in a controlled manner, followed by the egg retrieval procedure under anesthesia. The egg cells obtained after this process are frozen using the vitrification (rapid freezing) method.
How Long Can Frozen Eggs Be Stored?
The storage period is one year (this duration can be extended up to five years with the patient’s approval each year; after five years, approval from the Ministry of Health is required). If the individual who has frozen their eggs decides not to use them and does not wish to continue storage, the only option is to dispose of the eggs. To do this, they must apply to the IVF center with a request letter indicating the reason for disposal and their signature. Following this, a notification is sent to the Ministry of Health for the eggs to be destroyed.
